Join AussieJetSetter as he reviews a recent flight with Virgin Australia between Australia’s Gold Coast down to the nation’s largest city of Sydney on just one of the airline’s many trusty but ageing stalwart Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
With so much of the Australian aviation scene been dominated in recent times by all the buzz and hype surrounding the big three airline’s ambitious fleet renewal programs with all the spotlight focusing on the deliveries of newer more modern aircraft such as the Airbus A321 Neo, Boeing 737 Max and of course the Airbus A220 it is easy to forget the focus still on the present everyday state of Australia’s biggest airlines . The reality is that for the majority of Australians travelling on Australia’s most frequented flight routes will still be flying on a trusty stalwart Airbus A320 or Boeing 737 for still quite some time to come!
For these reasons in this flight review I will give you an inside look at what you can expect with the Virgin Australia economy class experience on their Boeing 737-800 aircraft in 2024. From the in-flight amenities to the onboard food and beverage, in flight entrainment and seating i’ll put Virgin Australia to the ultimate test and see whether the airline actually is still delivering value for money under new ownership and restructure post the circumstances of 2020. I will also offer my thoughts on Virgin Australia’s role as the ‘middle ground’ carrier in the Australia market and how I think it is positioned between that of Jetstar and Qantas in terms of inflight experience and cost.
