In great news for cost conscious Australian travelers the Thai offset of the Malaysian budget airline conglomerate Air Asia will now be able to fly direct between Sydney and Melbourne and Bangkok.
Thai Air Asia X flights commenced to Melbourne today with the first service touching down at Melbourne Tullamarine Airport just after 2pm local time whilst Sydneysiders will have to wait to tomorrow December 2) to see their first arrival of Thai Air Asia services from Bangkok.
The Melbourne to Bangkok service will be thrice weekly departing on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sunday whilst the Sydney to Bangkok services will operate four times weekly on Mondays, Tuesday, Fridays and Saturdays. For the Bangkok to Sydney service it will be wheels up out of Suvarnabhumi Airport at 12.30am before arriving into Sydney at 2.15pm whilst the return leg will depart Sydney at 3.40pm before arriving into Bangkok at 9.35pm.
For those heading to Melbourne from Bangkok it will be wheels up at a similar time of 12.20am before arriving into Melbourne at 2pm whilst the outbound flight will leave Melbourne at 3.30pm before arriving back into Bangkok at 9.15pm.
The flights will be operated by the Airlines fleet of 6 all Airbus A330-300 aircraft with 377 seats including 12 upfront business class angle flat seats.
