In great news for Kiwi travelers they will now enjoy more competition on the NZ to USA market with Delta Airlines announcing a daily Airbus A350-900 service to connect Auckland with Los Angeles from October 28. The new service will be the only US carrier providing a direct connection between the City of Sails with the Californian City of Angeles.
The new daily service DL64 will depart Auckland at 3pm local time before arriving into LAX at the jetlag prone time of 6.05am previously the same day. Meanwhile the return service DL65 will be wheels up out of Los Angeles at 10.40pm before arriving into Auckland at 8.35am two days later.
In its recent announcement Delta are not just expanding into the New Zealand market but have also announced increased frequencies and routes to Europe ahead of the European summer tourism peak. New services announced include New York JFK to Generva and London Gatwick and new flights from Atlanta to Nice, Tel Aviv and Edinburgh. This comes on top of recent announcements in the American fall of new services to Edinburgh, Berlin, Dusseldorf, Geneva and Stuttgart.
“With more than 1,750 weekly flights to 85 destinations around the globe this summer, Delta is well positioned to deliver on its plans to fully restore its network in 2023,” said Joe Esposito, Delta’s S.V.P. – Network Planning. “With brand-new flights this year to cities like Auckland, Geneva and London-Gatwick, we’re giving customers more options to enjoy the premium experience and elevated hospitality they have come to know and expect from us.”
“LAX continues to grow its global network of destinations that are connecting Angelenos to every corner of the globe, and Delta’s addition of nonstop service from Los Angeles to New Zealand is in lockstep with the airline’s commitment to expand and improve service to our region,” said Justin Erbacci, Chief Executive Officer, Los Angeles World Airports
“Coupled with Delta’s international additions to Sydney and Tahiti, this is another exciting result of the ongoing and strong collaboration between LAX and Delta Air Lines as we connect more people across the Pacific and beyond.”
