Join Aussie JetSetter for another one of my flight reviews as this time we check out Air Asia X on a medium- hual 5 hour Airbus A330-300 flight between Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia and Perth which is Western Australia’s capital city. Air Asia X is the long-haul subsidiary of the hugely successful and popular Air Asia brand which although first started in Malaysia has rapidly grown since its founding in 1993 to numerous local subsidiary airlines across Asia.
In this review I seek to put Air Asia X to the ultimate test on an overnight red-eye flight to see whether they can still live up to expectation about the airline being rated one of the world’s best long haul low cost airlines. With a challenging departure time of nearly 2am and little time for sleep this flight provides a good test of endurance both for the seasoned traveler and the flight crew and provides a great opportunity to find out whether the Air Asia X experience will differ much from daytime and evening flights. I will assess everything from the ground handling experience, to the aircraft and seat condition, on board food and beverage offerings and of course value for money and ultimately wherever its worth your time and money flying Air Asia X in 2024! As an added bonus before leaving Kuala Lumpur I will also check out the Travel Club Lounge at KLIA 2 to see how this conveniently located lounge rates in terms of passenger experience!
