Join me for another one of my flight reviews as this time we check out regular Air Asia on a Malaysia operated AK flight on a 3.5 hour flight between Kuala Lumpur and Colombo Sri Lanka on their stalwart Airbus A320-200 aircraft. The Air Asia Group which is these days the largest airline in Malaysia is a hugely successful and popular low cost carrier airline which although first started in Malaysia has rapidly grown since its founding in 1993 to numerous local subsidiary airlines across Asia including also long haul variants such as Air Asia X and Thai Air Asia X.
So successful the airline that it has been awarded SkyTrax’s Best Low Cost Airline award for an unprecedented 14 years straight but do these often controversial and many argue dubious awards actually stand up to scrutiny in reality? One way we can find out is by taking regular Air Asia on one of its longer flights in its short haul network whereby in this review I will assess everything from the ground handling experience, to the aircraft and seat condition, on board food and beverage offerings and of course value for money and ultimately wherever its worth your time and money flying the original and oldest Air Asia brand going in 2023!
